Description

It's been more than a month since I've been able to open up the #Observatory and get some clear skies. It's an early kickoff to spring's #galaxyseason with a new target - Galaxy NGC 3718.

This distorted spiral galaxy is 52 million light years away and sits just below the pan of the big dipper in the northern sky. It's companion galaxy, NGC 3729 (on top) is only about 150,000 light years from the main galaxy... and is likely the cause for its long arms.

Just to the left of 3718 you'll see a set of other conjoined & distorted galaxies way off in the distance.
